Push car or foot-to-floor ride-on: what's the difference?

A foot-to-floor ride-on is moved by the child, pushing with their feet. It builds balance, coordination and leg strength, and it is usually a baby's first car from about 12 months. A push car can also be pushed by a parent, which helps before your toddler can ride on their own. None of them need batteries or charging.

Choosing a first car for a toddler

When your child is ready for a motor, the next step is a 6V ride-on car for toddlers. For balance bikes, scooters and other ride-on toys, see push and kick ride-on toys.
