48V Ride-On Cars for Kids
48V kids ride-on vehicles are the highest-voltage models we offer, built around 2-seat and 4-seat UTV and dune buggy designs. Two of them use an advanced brushless motor and a precision differential and are listed for ages 14 and up, while the officially licensed Can-Am Maverick 48V is listed for ages 3 to 8. All come with free ground shipping across Canada.
How to choose a 48V ride-on
48V is the top of our voltage range, so these are large, powerful machines rather than first ride-ons. As a general guide, 36V and 48V ride-ons are meant for older kids, but the listed age group is what counts, and in this collection it varies widely from model to model. Before you choose, compare these points:
- Listed age group: the Freddo Rocket and the Freddo Beast XL are listed for ages 14 and up. The Can-Am Maverick 48V is listed for ages 3 to 8 and runs on two 24V batteries.
- Seats and weight limit: the Beast XL seats four and carries up to 330 lbs, the Rocket seats two with a 220 lb (100 kg) limit, and the Can-Am Maverick seats two with a 110 lb limit.
- Top speed: listed at 18 km/h (11.2 mph) for the Beast XL, 11 mph (about 17.7 km/h) for the Rocket and 8 km/h (4.97 mph) for the Can-Am Maverick.
- Drivetrain: a brushless motor runs efficiently with less wear, and a differential lets the wheels on each side turn at different speeds in corners for smoother turning on grass and gravel.
- Space: plan for a large yard, a cottage property or private trails. These vehicles need room to ride safely.

Safety and everyday use
Higher voltage and higher speeds call for stricter rules, even for teenage drivers:
- Ride on private property only, never on public roads or sidewalks, and keep an adult supervising every session.
- A well-fitted helmet is a smart habit at these speeds, along with closed-toe shoes.
- Respect the listed age group and the maximum weight, with one rider per seat and seat belts fastened on models that have them.
- Walk the riding area first and remove rocks, branches and toys. Avoid steep slopes, ditches and wet ground.
- If a model offers more than one speed setting, start new drivers on the lowest one.
- Charge the batteries fully before the first ride and store them indoors through the Canadian winter.
When it is time for new batteries, our ride-on batteries collection lists compatible options.

48V ride-on FAQ
What age is a 48V ride-on for?
Check the listing of each model. The Freddo Rocket and Freddo Beast XL are listed for ages 14 and up, while the Can-Am Maverick 48V is listed for ages 3 to 8 with a 110 lb limit.
Is there a 48V ride-on for 8 to 10 year olds?
The 48V models here are listed either for ages 3 to 8 or for 14 and up. For children in between, look at 24V models listed for older kids, such as the Lamborghini Aventador 24V for ages 6 to 12 or the Dune Buggy Buccaneer XXL for ages 6 and up.
How fast does a 48V ride-on go?
Listed top speeds in this collection are 18 km/h (11.2 mph) for the Beast XL, 11 mph for the Rocket and 8 km/h (4.97 mph) for the Can-Am Maverick 48V.
How many seats do 48V ride-ons have?
The Freddo Beast XL is a 4-seater, and the Freddo Rocket and Can-Am Maverick 48V are 2-seaters.
Do 48V ride-ons have rubber tires?
Tire type varies by model, so check the specifications on each product page. For grip in corners, also look at the drivetrain: the Rocket and Beast XL use a precision differential.
What is the difference between a 24V and a 48V ride-on?
A 48V system doubles the voltage of a 24V one, giving more power for heavier loads, more seats and higher listed speeds. Choose 48V for older riders and plenty of space, and 24V for younger children.
